What is the difference between GB/T and CCS2?
Direct answer
GB/T and CCS2 are different charging systems. China-market vehicles commonly use GB/T, while CCS2 is widely used for European DC charging. Physical connection alone does not establish electrical, communication or vehicle compatibility.
Procurement verification checklist
| Check | Record to obtain |
|---|---|
| AC inlet | Photograph the vehicle inlet and identify its standard |
| DC inlet | Check connector, communication protocol and voltage limits separately |
| Proposed adapter | Vehicle-specific compatibility evidence; do not rely only on plug shape |
| Acceptance test | Record charger model, software, vehicle and faults during a supervised test |

Practical steps
- Obtain clear photos of the actual AC and DC charging inlets, vehicle identification and the manufacturer’s charging specifications. Do not infer the inlet from the brand.
- Compare the vehicle’s voltage range, power limits and communication requirements with the intended chargers. Check AC and DC separately.
- If an adapter or conversion is proposed, obtain written vehicle-specific compatibility evidence, safety documentation, warranty implications and an approval assessment.
- Arrange a supervised charging demonstration on the intended charger type. Record equipment, vehicle, software, delivered power and any faults.
Evidence and limits
A charging demonstration at one site is evidence for that setup, not a guarantee for every network.
Ask the manufacturer or a qualified specialist to assess any conversion; do not modify high-voltage systems yourself.
Confirm current requirements with the relevant authority, technical service and carrier for the exact VIN and destination before purchase or shipment.
